another bump and a curve....

Just when I thought I would be able to get back on the bandwagon of blogging, especially with the new "book" I would like to write, you hit a bump or a curve.. or just when you think you push the "resume" button on your cruise - you have a semi truck barreling down on you and you have to slam on the brakes of life.

I had to slam on the brakes when I found out earlier in the day exactly a week ago that one of my best friends had a brain tumor and was going to have brain surgery in 2 days. We knew there were issues with something back in November when she had a seizure but things were going well after that. Then all the sudden she was confused, having headaches and having a hard time making her brain work in the order it should.

I'm glad to say that the surgery went very well and in an MRI after the surgery, they could not find any other "spots" or tumors that might have been hiding so that is a good sign. The pathology report came back as cancer which was expected from the doctors indications but the words still can take the wind out of you when you hear them. She's doing incredibly well. She was released from the hospital on Sunday already - before the superbowl game and still HAD to have a superbowl party so we took food down and watched the first half with her. Coordination is still off and writing is difficult but outside of that - she's really doing well. Radiaton and chemo will start soon.

All that to say - it's hard to write when this stuff is going on. There has been so much going on in the last 10 months that it's getting overwhelming at times but God is good and He will carry me through...
